A new sermon series on “Recognizing God’s presence in our lives” based on the book of Genesis 28. We are going to talk about a story of “Jacob’s First Encounter with God” on Sunday, October 8, 2017. The most wonderful thing that can happen to anybody is for God to turn up. The problem is that we don’t always recognize Him at the time, and we only see later that it was God. The trouble is, we think God can only come in one particular way, and that’s the way we’ve met Him. The question is this: If He turned up in an unexpected way, would we affirm Him? God is with us and He is everywhere. His love never fails!!
The Spirit of God invites everyone to the Love Feast which is a compassionate act of worship. Tylertown UMC
We are going to talk about a parable from the Gospel of Luke 6, “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?” on Sunday, October 1, 2017.Jesus Christ was asking a question of the Pharisees who were blinded by pride and prejudice, can they lead anyone without leading them into a pit? In our lives today, there is no running away from what Jesus Christ was teaching because if it is not heeded the result will be disaster.
There are important questions you should ask yourself. Who are you following and why are you following? Is your leader leading you right and leading you into light or are you being led towards a pit? Are you being encouraged to love and pursue the things of this world rather than things that will last forever?
A blind leader is a disaster waiting to happen and a leader that is blinding you is a greater disaster. Remember that Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He is the One who will not lead any astray. He is the good shepherd. Jesus is the Word of God. The Spirit of God invites everyone to the Love Feast and Holy Communion. Tylertown UMC
